Title

The Diary of George Wylie Rigby of Freckleton: With additional notes on his early life

Info

George Wylie Rigby of Freckleton commenced his diary in 1882, at the age of 24. His final entry was shortly before his death in 1950. The diary, in five volumes, records not only George’s domestic life but also his activities in the wider community, thus providing an important contribution to the social history of Freckleton. It was a remarkable life of commitment and duty, and in the words of his great-grandson and present-day custodian of the diary, Harry Hall, ‘an extraordinary life of an ordinary man’.

Here’s what Peter Shakeshaft says about working with Scotforth:
“We had a successful book launch at Freckleton Methodist Church on Friday 26 October. The book generated considerable interest not only amongst family members, but also the wider village community. This is my sixth book published by Carnegie Scotforth Books. As usual, I received a high standard of friendly, professional guidance throughout the publishing process. On top of their work, they deliver exactly what they say they will. Can’t thank Lucy and Srishti enough for how much they’ve helped me.”
