Tell us a little bit about yourself:

Of our trio of authors two of us had children attending St Mary’s Primary School in Kirkby Lonsdale and the third is a former pupil of the Kirkby Lonsdale National School and an avid local historian. We are all interested in social history and full of curiosity about our own community.

Tell us about the book and your motivations for self publishing it:

• To unlock the treasure trove of school log books and old photographs, going back to the 1850s when the Kirkby Lonsdale National School was established, and make them accessible to local children, families and the wider community.
• To celebrate the school’s 150th anniversary & to raise funds for the pupils.
• To learn about publishing & to develop new skills.
